Stefanie Harris

Erin Flanagan

Taught by Inseus teacher Stefanie Harris, with co-teacher Erin Flanagan—both are trained through the Center for Mindful Self-Compassion. Stefanie is also a Qualified Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction (MBSR) Teacher through UCSD's Center for Mindfulness and a Certified Hudson Institute Executive Coach. She has over 25 years of corporate experience, including 12 years as a Senior Leader at Amazon. As a mother of two, a former college athlete, and a corporate veteran, Stefanie knows how mindfulness and self-compassion can have a huge impact when navigating high-stress, performance-driven atmospheres. Erin is also a Qualified Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction teacher through UCSD's Center for Mindfulness. Erin's work as a registered nurse has greatly influenced her approach to mindfulness and meditation, which she practices as a way to meet moments of joy and struggle with a sense of equanimity so that life can be infused with greater kindness, patience, and understanding.

This Short Course in Mindful Self-Compassion (SC-MSC) is a highly experiential program that will teach you how to care for yourself with understanding and support when you need it most—when you fail, feel inadequate, or are suffering. The SC-MSC program builds the skills of mindfulness and develops the resource of self-compassion to enhance your capacity for emotional resilience. Research has shown that these techniques can help improve emotional well-being and the ability to cope with life’s challenges, lead to lower levels of anxiety and depression, and increase relationship and life satisfaction. Self-compassion is an inner strength that enables us to be more fully human and more fully ourselves.

SC-MSC was developed by Kristin Neff, PhD, the pioneering researcher in the field of self-compassion, and Christopher Germer, PhD, a leader in the integration of mindfulness, compassion, and psychotherapy.

In this course you’ll learn:

  • how to stop being so hard on yourself

  • how to handle difficult emotions with greater ease

  • how to motivate yourself with encouragement rather than criticism

  • mindfulness and self-compassion practices for home and everyday life

  • the theory and research behind mindful self-compassion

Offered in a virtual classroom format, you will experience all the same benefits of an in-person training, including lectures, experiential exercises, and group discussions. Virtual classes deploy a simple technology platform to bring all participants together live, creating engagement, interaction, and community.
